Types of Sealers

What types of sealers should you use on your brick pavers? What are their benefits?

When people think of sealing their brick paver walkways, patios, or driveways, they are under the impression their pavers will have a shiny or glossy look.  This is completely false.  There are sealers on the market that will allow your paver bricks to have a natural look or a wet look depending on what type of look you would like to achieve. Choosing the right sealer for your brick pavers allows you to enjoy your outdoor living space for years to come without the maintenance.

There are three types of sealers we use year after year and they have different benefits.

Surebond Joint Stabilizing Sealer
Surebond Joint Stabilizing Sealer is the first type of sealer we use. The main benefit of this sealer is that it stabilizes the joints, locking the sand between the pavers so it does not wash out. With the sand locked between the joints, brick pavers systems tend to have fewer weeds and problems with settling and shifting. Surebond is also a water-based sealer, making it a non slick surface and easier to apply.

Prosoco Sand Joint Stabilizer Sealer
Prosoco Sand Joint Stabilizer Sealer is the second type of sealer we use. It has the exact same properties as the Surebond Sealer, but it gives you more of a shine. This type of shine is compared to a semi-gloss paint.  So depending on what type of look you want your pavers when sealing with a joint stabilizing sealer, will determine which sealer you would choose.

Techni-Seal Acrylic Based Sealer
The third type of sealer we use is Techni-Seal Acrylic Based Sealer. If you would like your pavers to have a deep, rich shine to them, choose the Techni-Seal. This is the biggest benefits to using an acrylic based sealer.
